Memorial Day Weekend CFH Blog Hop

**RAK is CLOSED**

Hey everyone! This is such a great thing to be a part of and I'm so happy you are able to "hop" by my blog! If you're visiting my blog in the middle of the hop make sure you visit here to start from the beginning.

Have you visited Cards for Heroes before? It is such an awesome thing to be a part of and as a newcomer, I have a ton of excitement to create cards for our heroes to send out to their loved ones and also cards to encourage them! They do so much and sacrifice so much for our country. While I have not had someone close to me in the military, I am not oblivious to what they do for me and our country. War is never something we desire but there is a time and place for everything and someone has to be called to step in during those moments. It is pure joy to utilize what I have viewed as a "hobby" or "time-filler" and use it as a gift to bless someone else.

So about my blog. Many have asked where I got the name The Profound Brunette. It's simple really. I'm a brunette and, at times, am profound. (insert wink). But over the course of the last few weeks I've decided to focus more on my paper crafting here and inter mingle my personal life posts as well. I've just started posting some tutorials. Well, only one so far and I always share the recipe for the layouts and cards I post here. I'm currently working on a video tutorial so please return and let me know what you think!

Now I wanted to share with you the card I made for CFH this week. It's a super simple USA themed card:
Materials: All cardstock paper is Bazzill, twine and button are from stash and letter stamps are from Stampendous, Brown tag from stash.

Directions: This card was so easy and fun to make! I don't remember all the measurements but I'm sure you could work it out on your own. The red background of the flag was cut with my trimmer and then I cut a block of cream paper the same width. After that I tore three strips to make the stripes of the flag. Tore a small blue square and added the button for where the stars typically go. I took multiple strips of the twine and tied it into a knot through the hole of the tag.
I'm not usually a fan of individual letter stamps but they worked out great for this!

Alterations: Another technique to add to this card is inking the edges or using walnut ink to add a distressed look. I love doing these techniques!

NOW.. here is the update!!! Two posts ago I decided to advertise a RAK for my blog. Well, as I've been looking at the response from this bloghop I have decided to alter the "rules" for entering. All you need to do to get ONE entry is post a comment on this blog post. If you would like to have TWO entries, you need to become a follower of my blog and scrapsketch. And to those of you who entered by following the previous rules, don't worry, you're still entered with the appropriate amount of entries. :)

Here is what one lucky winner will receive:

{A lovely 4x6 deep edge canvas, $5 Gift Card to Starbucks and a coupon for FREE shipping on ANY order at my etsy shop.}
I will be submitting the winner's name to CFH and they will be posting the name on their site and I will also post to my blog so make sure you come back. :)

PHEW.. you made it through this post. Now get on over to Corinna's website. She is one talented lady and has a great etsy shop!

Have fun on the rest of your bloghop! Hope to see you stop by again soon.
