Layouts, sad news and good news

Sad news first. I gave Christina my resignation for the DT at Creative Twist. It was such a short time but I knew in the back of my head that I probably shouldn't take on such a task. Especially with everything else going on but being the gracious lady she is, she understood what I needed to do. I encourage you all to continue checking out that blog. The challenges coming up are going to be so much fun!

Good news is I completed two layouts today! My sewing machine has been on the fritz and I got it fixed. Did it all by myself actually. Just needed a little oil and cleaning. I need to remember to do that more often. So I got to stitch on a layout which I haven't done in awhile. I love it! It's nice when your machine will actually stitch correctly. :)

Both of these layouts are for two different Friday Challenges at scrapsketch:

This one is for last week. I used some Amy Butler fabric scraps I had lying around as a the background. Adhered it with a couple of glue dots and then stitched. I love the unfinished look of the stitching and the frayed edges. In person, you can see the fabric bulging a little bit where it isn't adhered to the paper. LOVE it. The journaling says this: "I'm learning to laugh again... I love this photo of me because it shows how I can laugh at myself and be a complete dork without feeling stupid. I still need to seek approval and affirmation from people but I also know Who my identity belongs to. After years of heartache, pain, feeling lost and alone - this picture is a complete example to the woman I've become. A most dearly loved daughter of the King, washed clean of all past pain and mistakes. I love to laugh!"

Other materials:
Wooden flourish - Kaisercraft
Flowers - Bo Bunny
Wish sticker - 7 Gypsies
Journal spot - I made this in Photoshop using some brushes by Rhonna Farrer
Patterned fabric - Amy Butler

Here is a layout using this weeks Friday Challenge sketch:

The lighting isn't so great in my house. I might try to take a different photo tomorrow. The journaling for this one says: "Me and Danielle August '09 I love this photo of us! We are so silly! This was at Kaari's birthday dinner and we had to do a photoshoot!"

Background CS - Bazzill
Patterned Paper - Fancy Pants
Blue flower and journal spot - My Minds Eye
Blue brad - SEI
Ribbon, thread - stash

This layout also uses some digi - the title on the journaling spot was created on the comp. Used some of my downloaded fonts. I almost was going to create it similar to those letter stickers by Making Memories but decided to do each word a different font instead.

Thanks for swinging by again!
