Allison Davis sketch

I'm sure by now most of you have heard of the amazingly talented Allison Davis.  While in Chicago for CHA Summer I had the privilege of meeting her and holy cow... what a sweetheart!  I was immediately drawn to her sketches because they focused on two page layouts, which have always been a huge challenge for me.  First off, I've never really felt motivated or had the desire to create a two-pager and when I have attempted, I feel like a 4 year old figuring out how to hold a crayon again.  In other words... I sucked.

I think what I love the most about Allison's sketches is that she includes all the details.  The type of papers, the size of the papers and size of the photos.  I like that.  At the same time, there is plenty of room to add your own little elements and design twists which is another thing that I love!

I recently played along with the one-page sketch she has for the current Creative Team call.  Heck yes you better believe I put in my submission! Check out the sketch and the call here.

Here is my layout:

Supplies: Paper, sticker: Lily Bee Design, Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Alphabet (chipboard and fabric): American Crafts, Alphabet Stickers: Doodlebug Design, Flowers: Prima Marketing, Bling: Kaiser Craft, Ribbon: Pink Paislee, Floss: DMC, Pen: Zig Memory System, Tool: Electronic Cutter: Silhouette SD (Shapes: 3_borders, 3d_flowers), Corner Scissors: Fiskars, Other: Sewing Machine, Photography by Kimberly Lee.

I am so in love with all the latest releases from Lily Bee.  Actually, I'm in love with all of the papers from every single line.  I don't think I've fallen this hard for a paper line in quite awhile.  Here are a couple of close-ups of my layout:

I did some hand stitching to my hand cut leaves here.  I love the texture and extra detail it adds.

Holy dimension batman!  Yep, those are some tall flowers.  I have no idea how I'll get those to fit in a page protector.  I might just have to frame the layout and hang it up somewhere... you know... stare at myself all day.  Who wouldn't want to do that???

Hope you had a creative weekend!  Tomorrow is Monday but I am actually looking forward to it.  That may change, though, when my alarm begins to buzz in my ear at 4:45 a.m.  Nope... that's not a typo.
