How was it?

Your Christmas. Did you have a good one? Was Santa good to you?

Christmas at my abode was extremely low key. Just my parents, my aunt and me. What was once a larger family of about 10+ has now shrunk to the four of us. I miss the big family gatherings but also understand that this is the family that God has for me this season. If I said it was okay... I'd be lying but I'm learning to find the blessings intermingled with all that.

And... Santa was very good to me this year! I got the last machine on my wish list - a Cuttlebug! I know. I'm so behind the times aren't I? I never thought I wanted one until I saw all the fun embossing can add. I've already managed to collect 8 folders and have gone on a wild embossing frenzy. It's quite fun and addicting!
I also received several border punches, some Tim Holtz distress inks and grunge board! Yahoo! Always love it when scrappy stuff appears under the tree. Thanks mom & dad Santa!

So what is a girl to do with brand new scrappy goodies?

Make cards of course!  Isn't that owl adorable?  The cardstock is from Core'dinations which is perfect for embossing.  I inked over the raised areas with a blender and white ink.

Supplies: Cardstock: Recollections, Core'dinations, Patterned Paper: October Afternoon, Sticker: SRM Press, Pearls: Kaisercraft, Ink: Hampton Art, Tools: Punch: Fiskars, Embossing Machine: Cuttlebug

I made a couple of other cards too...

Supplies: Patterned Paper, cut outs: Nikki Sivils, Stickers: SRM Press, thread: DMC, Tools: Punch: Fiskars

Supplies: Cardstock: The Paper Company, Core'dinations, Flower: American Crafts, Twine: Jillibean Soup, Sticker: SRM Press, Pen: Zig Memory Systems, Tool: Electronic Cutter: Silhouette SD

I made that last card because when Christmas is over... I'm ready for some Spring.  Winter can just hurry it's little self up and get over with.

A little reminder... one more week and the new sketch site for Allison Davis will go live!  It's called Sketch Support.  The site isn't live yet but you'll want to bookmark that link for future use.  The Creative Team has been busily working on the first release of sketches.  They are so fun!

Also... one more week until the new kit at SFTIO goes live.  Our emotion is a perfect one for the New Year and the product... excuse me while I wipe up some of my drool.  (Sorry I know that's gross but I just can't help it!)

HEY... one last thing.  Are you a card maker?  Have you wanted to be published?  I write the Card Corner article for ScrapStreet and am always looking for talented card makers that want to join me as I chat about fun techniques and trends.  Here is the current call for the March issue:

Card Corner: Good luck! ¡Buena suerte! Bonne chance! Whatever your language, we want to see your cards wishing good luck!

Email your submissions to melissa[at]scrapstreet[dot]com
If you tell me you saw the call on my blog, I'll save your email address for future calls and a chance to be pubbed.  While I do enjoy never before seen, as long as it hasn't been pubbed in another publication you can send it in! Can't wait to see what you make! (Submissions are due December 31)
