Midgie and some Boots

I'm sure if you are someone who has had a family pet, you will be able to relate with this post. Near the end of November, we said goodbye to our dear old family kitty cat Midge.  It was a very hard time.  Even though we knew it was her time, blessed beyond all measure to have her part of our family and ready to let go - it didn't take away the pain and grief we all had.  Yes.  She was a cat.  But she was a dear family member.  She fit the mold quite perfectly.  I still sometimes look for her and then I get sad when I realize what I did.  I know it's not bad.  It's natural.  And it's all part of the grief.  I made, for my mom, a mini book (about four years ago) of Midge.  Finding all the photos we had from when she was a kitten up until that point in time, I compiled the book and wrote our story of bringing Midgie home back in 1996.

It still sits on our coffee table.  New pages have been added that include a sympathy card from our vet, her original papers from when she was bought and a sweet poem the vet had included with the card.  All so sweet.  We now look through the mini book with different eyes.  We cry.  But it's with a smile too.

One of the things I've always wondered, since childhood, is where animals go when they die.  Will I get to see our family pets in Heaven?

Supplies: Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Cardstock: American Crafts, Alphabet stickers: Sassafras Lass, Chipboard: GCD Studios, Perfect Pearls: Ranger Industries, Acrylic shapes: Pink Paislee, Adhesive: Helmar, Other: brads, Tools: Electronic Cutter: Silhouette SD, Stamp: Fiskars

The supplies used for this layout are all included with the December kit - Wonder - from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out.  I simply adore the color combinations and the topic for this month.  I thought it perfect to scrap about something I've wondered for a long time and to process my grief of losing Midge this way.

Now.... on a completely different note....

I'm about to go all infomercial on you.
Sorry to completely switch emotions here! Take a minute.  We're switching from grief and wonder to excitement.

So my skin is extremely dry.  Every product dries my skin out.  Even product that says it's for sensitive and dry skin.  Drives me crazy.  I wash, can FEEL it tightening and then slather so much lotion on it's ridiculous.  Drives me crazy.  Well....  I found the solution to my problems.
I'm sure those of you in the UK will think nothing of the brand name Boots but in the U.S. it's not quite as big... yet.  I just started noticing this line in my local Target.  I'm always afraid to try new things because my skin is so freakin' sensitive.  Luckily, a Boots rep was working that day and loaded me with some free samples.

Um.  After a week of use?  I'm sold.  Love. This. Stuff!  So if you are like me... super dry... super sensitive... give Boots a try!!!  It's super affordable too.  The cleanser is less than $6!  Woo to the hoo!

Ya think with all this PR they might send me some free stuff??  Boots??? You out there??????

The Boots sounds great! My skin is sensitive and so dry too, I'll have to check it out!

This summer my SIL's dog Minnie passed away. She was a 14 year old beagle and had been with her thru so many hard times. She was so devastated! We were all devastated. I made her a mini album and she keeps it on a shelf in her living room. BIG HUGS! The book will help you and your fam remember her :) Great LO too, love the pic cluster
