Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2011!

I think I am ready for this year!  In 6 days I turn 34 (still a spring chicken if you ask me), I'm closing a chapter in one creative area of life and beginning a new one (more to come on the chapter that's closing later), I'm already counting the days until Chicago for some fun with my ScrapStreet sister friends and I'm definitely looking forward to all that God has planned for me.

This year I'm picking one word!  One little word that will be my theme, if you will, for my take on life in 2011.  It is inspired by the January kit at SFTIO - Reflection.  Simply put... I love this kit!  It made me go back to "roots", so to speak, when it comes to scrapbooking.  While I love to experiment and dare myself to try new things, I found myself creating layouts with layers and a good solid foundation of patterned paper.  I still love leaving lots of negative space but I also like "cozy" layouts.  The ones that leave you feeling warm and are pleasing to the eye.

My word for 2011 is Reflect.  Here is a closer look at the journaling:

We got a sheet of the Pink Paislee - Parisian Anthology paper.  I seriously love this paper to bits.  It is so versatile as you can ink it, stamp it... do whatever you want to it to make it go with your papers.  I used the Smooch Spritz included with the kit.  I'll be sharing some fun techniques using the spritz on the SFTIO forum near the end of the month as part of the Exclusive Content.  Come join us!

Here is a close up of the butterfly with a hand-stitched flight path:

My sewing machine broke and so I stocked up on some DMC floss to hand-stitch on projects.  It adds a different look than the machine stitching but I like it!  And it will do until I can find the money (and the space) for a new machine.
Also happening this month is some EXCITING NEWS!!!  You remember my announcement about making Allison Davis and Scrapbook Generation Publishing's Creative Team??  Well, the new site called Sketch Support is finally LIVE!  This is where all future sketches will be shared.  It is going to be an exciting year as we use the awesome sketches provided by Allison and use product from our awesome sponsors.  I'm already excited about an upcoming one.  It's one of my new faves!

Click on the above banner to be taken to the site and it's grand opening!

I'd also like to start the New Year off with a little prize!

Project Team Ewan is a labor of love for me... as you, my regular readers, know!  This project is still ongoing and the Class Package is still for sale!  I've got lots of fabulous prizes to give away to those who purchase the package.  For more information about the classes, prizes and the project click here.  That will take you to the PTE blog.

Otherwise, I'd love to give away the class portion of the package to one wonderful person.  Which includes the following classes in .pdf form:
Scrap Faster With A Hybrid Touch by Dora Phillips
Dora offers 4 photo templates to use in Photoshop Elements and shows you how to drop and group your photos for easy printing.  This is the perfect class for busy scrappers who are looking for an easy way to print out photos for multi-photo layouts.

Fashion Muse by Nancy Doren
In this class Nancy will take you on a journey through fashion and how you can use it as inspiration for your paper projects.

Scrapbooking with Symbolism by Melissa Elsner
Melissa talks about how the different elements and principles of design can be applied to your layouts in a symbolic way.

Life Story by Kara Haupt
A 39 page PDF class that is meant as the bedrock and foudations of telling your life story. An abbreviated version of your life, if you will. Small prompts everyday, ideas about how to get started, suggestions about the book, our treasure box, and the photo's we'll be taking.

Life is Sweet by Iris Babao-Uy
Iris will take you through one of her layouts and showcase techniques and design principles she used.
This is what you need to do.  The awareness of CHD's in children is only just beginning.  Project Team Ewan is just barely scrapping the glass, so to speak.  But we'd love shatter it!  We'd love to break through to the world about the #1 defect in children.  It's baffeling.

In order to be considered to win I need you to help me with a couple of things:

1.  Become a follower of the PTE blog.
2.  Share about Project Team Ewan on your blog or other social community if you don't have a blog.
3.  Follow us on Facebook.
4.  Come back here and leave a comment letting me know you did all 3 of those things along with your email address or way to contact you.

Then... come back again on my birthday - January 6 - to see who won!  It would be the best birthday present in the world to see others spreading the word about CHD's and also about the current way Project Team Ewan is raising money for Seattle Children's

Happy New Year! May 2011 be one that you can reflect on all the wonder, growth and beauty that life brings your way!
