A New Word and a Giveaway

Note:  Giveaway is closed.  I'm drawing a winner. :)

Anybody out there?  Was it quiet in blog land for anyone else this weekend?  Not that I thrive on comments but I usually have at least two on each post.  It doesn't have to be anything amazing.  Just nice to know that there are some lovely people out there. :)  Maybe today's post will solve that!

First, I have to share something I did.  It is totally typical of my personality too.  After the sermon at church this weekend I decided I needed to change my word for the year.  While Reflect is a perfectly wonderful word, I knew that it didn't quite equate what I wanted to focus on this year.  I still want to take moments to think and to encourage myself to not be so quick to take action.  Sometime acting before thinking isn't always the best way to go.   The sermon was called Fresh and it was focused on this verse:  He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." Revelation 21:5

I loved the picture of bread.  Who doesn't love the smell of freshly baked bread??  It is my favorite smell.  We all know stale bread is gross.  Bleh.  I want fresh bread everyday.  I want a fresh focus everyday.  And I'm ready for a fresh, new start for a fresh, new year!  I want to look at the everyday things in life and see them with new perspective.  I want to get excited and look forward to what the day holds each morning.  No more dreading.  No more being a grumpy guss and I'm not going to be frustrated when things don't go my way.  Why?  Because that just means something better and, possibly, more exciting is around the corner!

Okay okay. I know that the reality of all this will be that I will wake up grumpy.  And there will be days when I feel the world is ganging up on me or that nobody likes me but I'm hoping with my new word for the year that it will remind me to think of each day as a NEW opportunity! So my word is NEW!

Supplies:  Paper, die cut: Lily Bee Design, Chipboard: Prima Marketing, Alphabet: JoAnn, Alphabet Stickers: Webster's Pages, Button: Bo Bunny Press, Bling: Kaisercraft, Twine: Jillibean Soup, Paint: Making Memories, Mist: Smooch Spritz (Clearsnap), Adhesive: Helmar, Tools: Punch: Fiskars, Electronic Cutter: Silhouette SD

For the pinwheel accents I took my border punch to the paper first.  I used my scoring board from Martha Stewart Crafts to help make the folds more even.  It goes much quicker too!   The paper strips were cut with the Silhouette and the die cut shape for the journaling is a shape from Lily Bee.

So go ahead!  Change your word if you want! :)

Ready for a giveaway now????  To celebrate my new DT gig for Sketch Support AND to celebrate the grand opening of the website, I have the brand spanking new Sketches for Scrapbooking, volume 7 by Allison Davis and Debbie Sanders! Wooooooot!!!!  I browsed through my copy and am so excited for even more awesome inspiration for my two page, multi photo layouts.  And as you will learn from Sketch Support, these sketches can be used for so much more!

So who wants a FREE copy of this fab book?  You??  Well yahoo!  I'm going to make it so easy for you.  All you have to do is leave me a comment.  That's all.  I'll come back and draw one random winner this Friday so that should give you lots of time to think about what you'd like to say!  Maybe you can share with me your word for the year if you are doing sort of thing.  Or maybe just tell me why you want to win the book.  Or maybe just tell me what you had for breakfast.  Or you could tell me about the weather.  Or you could just say "Hi!"  It's all good with me. :)

Hugs to you all!!!
