Sketch Support Blog Hop!

Hi everyone! Today is a fun day as the DT from Sketch Support is having a blog hop!  We are sharing a sketch, a layout and prizes along the way.  If you are just arriving at my blog make sure you head over to the Sketch Support blog to begin.  This is such a great and talented team I don't want you to miss all the pretty layouts and opportunities to WIN!

I've shared this story before but I remember first meeting Allison back in July at Summer CHA 2010.  To be honest, I had heard of her sketches but had never actually checked them out.  I did visit her blog a few times, loved it and was eager to have her be featured in one of my articles in ScrapStreet.  As I dove deeper into her blog and was typing up the article, the more I fell in love with her sketches.  I love using sketches as a base for my layouts - especially when I have "creative block"!  I especially love how structured and composed my layouts seem to look when I use one of her sketches.  And let me just gush some more by saying how GIDDY HAPPY I was to be chosen for this team.  This Blog Hop is taking you to each of the DT blogs in an effort to get to know us a little better.

When it comes to paper crafting I am... a mess.  My workspace explodes.  Things are on the floor, on my bed, in my hair.  It's a disaster zone and I love every minute of it! Somehow in that mess, everything comes together.  The funny thing is I have to clean up in between projects.

Where do you craft?  I like to say I sleep in my craft room.  It's my bedroom!  But literally it's my bed, a dresser, a tiny bookshelf and then my two craft tables, shelves, etc.  I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

When I am creating, these are the things I have to have around me... an iced mocha, adhesive, trimmer, score board, scissors and some type of yummy snack.

When I am not creating, you can find me... working my day job which is as a Program Coordinator an an early learning center, spending time with friends, singing at my church, traveling the world and hanging out with the family.

When it comes to sketches I... love them.  I create layouts without them but I like to think of them as road maps.  There is nothing wrong with looking at the map for directions. :)  And I love how versatile they can be.  Sometimes I take them literally and sometimes I just take elements from the sketch to use.

Alright are you tired of my chatter?  We are sharing a special sketch for our blog hop today:

I decided to adapt it to a one pager:
Supplies: Cardstock: Recollections, Paper, Journal spot, bird, twine: Jillibean Soup, Flowers: Kaisercraft, Alphabet: American Crafts, Alpha Stickers: October Afternoon, Bling: Prima Marketing, Stickers: SRM Press, Pen: Uniball Signo, Paint: Ranger Industries, Punch: EK Success
Some design notes:  Obviously I shrunk to a one page.  I used different sized photos and a journal spot where a photo should have gone.  I also didn't keep the same dimensions.  Mostly I took the composition of the sketch as my inspiration and did all the sizing myself and did it to how it would work with my photos.  The alpha were actually white and I used some paint to color them orange.  To do the scallop border, I punched a bunch of circles and adhered them to the back of that strip of paper.

Do you like Allison Davis sketches??? How would you like to win this lovely thing:

Just leave me a comment by Sunday, February 27th at midnight (PST) telling me if you use sketches or not.  Pretty simple thing to answer, right?  Then come back to my blog on Monday, February 28th to see who the winner is! Yay!

Now get on with this hoppity hop and visit JILL SARGINSON who will be your next stop.  Enjoy!!! I LOVE her work!

hugs,
Melissa
