The Weekend I Don't Want To End

I didn't want Friday to end.  And now I don't want today to end.  Wish I could turn back the clock about 5 hours so it would be sunshiney again.  I had my windows open today!  So it was only 50 degrees but the breeze into my stale room felt and smelled so good.  I caught up on some assignment work and to hear the noises from outside and smell that air - ah!  So refreshing and invigorating!

I'm still over the moon happy about having a card picked up for the special issue of Paper Crafts.  I'm probably my hardest critic so anytime I get one of those happy emails I'm in disbelief.  And then I squeal and scream.  And jump around for a long time.

I thought I would share the other cards that didn't get picked up.  They are seriously some of my favorite cards!  And I tried a couple of new techniques that I haven't done on a card before.

This first card was pretty simple.  I loved the sketch and use of the negative space.  Just letting it rest with little pops of something here and there.

Supplies: Paper, stickers: Nikki Sivils Scrapbooker, Cardstock: Recollections, Bling: Studio 116, Teresa Collins, Alphabet: American Crafts

The next card I used a sketch I'm not normally drawn to.  I thought it was a great one to use some brads and my bakers twine.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Brads, bakers twine: My Minds Eye, Stamp: Unity Stamp Company

The next card I used a fun techniques that I've seen done on a canvas project before.  I've always wanted to try it but was waiting for the right project.  It's a fabulous way to use up all those letter stickers you don't use from the sticker sheets.

Supplies: Cardstock: Recollections, The Paper Company, Letter Stickers: Doodlebug Designs, Glitter chipboard alpha: American Crafts, Paint: Craft Smart

I love how elegant these Zva flowers look with the bloom ribbons.

And you'll just have to wait until August to see the other card. :)

Speaking of cards, I'd love to see you submit for my current card call at ScrapStreet.  If you put in your email to me that you are interested in being a Guest Designer, I'll get back to you about that.  Being a Guest Designer would you'd be on my team of designers who will get my calls ahead of time when I need to expand my article.  Or I might email you a call that I know you would rock out because it's your specialty.
The current call is all about manly cards.  Not just Father's Day.  Not just FOR a guy.  You can certainly create those but add some "manly" elements by using color and embellishments.  Maybe use a button instead of bling, as an example.  Email submissions to melissa [at] scrapstreet [dot] com by March 30th!
