Home Sweet Home

Happy Saturday!

Last night and today I worked on altering a fun frame set that I purchased at Michael's.  The idea came from a Live Ustream webcast from Helmar the other night.  I couldn't pass up an opportunity, not to mention the mojo! The next day I went to the store and found the hanging frame set to create my own using some yummy Helmar goodness.

I don't have a step by step for this so I'll just share photos and kind of walk you through what I did. Here is the finished frame set:

I used the fun Hometown Summer line from Pink Paislee. I love the mix of primary colors in this collection and knew it would work perfect for the project.  Inspired by the paper with the houses, I decided to go with a Home Sweet Home theme.  I used Helmar's Professional Acid Free Glue and spread it all over the frames.  I already cut the papers to a square that fit the frame so I wouldn't have to worry about cutting around the outside edge.  Those hooks would make it difficult to cut around. After adhering the paper, I flipped it over and used a craft knife to cut out the middle.

The chipboard flowers are from Bazzill Basics.  I used a mixture of stamp ink and paint to color them.  Stamp ink was used for the blue flower (Adirondack Brights) and the black (Staz-On) and paint (Making Memories) was used for the yellow.  I added some Crackle Accents to the black circle.  After it dried, I adhered bling using Helmar's Gemstone Glue.  That's how I adhered the bling to the center frame as well.

The word 'sweet' was cut onto vinyl with my Silhouette.

The thickers from American Crafts were originally blue but I used my Staz On ink to color them black.

One step I forgot to mention, was prior to adhering anything to the frames, I took out the glass frames and then painted the edges of each frame black.  When I work with canvas projects, this is something I like to do and it is also what the tutorial in the live Ustream showed as well. To complete the project, I adhered the black ball trim to the bottom to give a fringe feel and tied bows with the black lacy ribbon on the top hook.

Not sure what I plan to do with this.  I might keep it and add photos to the top and bottom frame or I might give it to a friend.

Thanks for swinging by!
