It's a Friendship Blog Hop!

Hi everyone!

Happy Monday to you! We are having a DT Blog Hop at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. Originally it was planned for the weekend but Blogger decided to change that plan. But that's okay! We are a determined bunch and know how much you all like a good blog hop! Especially one with an AWESOME prize!
If you are just arriving at my blog guess what?  You are at the right stop because I'm the beginning! I don't think I've ever started a hop before so this is kind of fun. Each team member is sharing one of their GORGEOUS layouts from the Friendship kit at SFTIO.

As I was working through this topic I was realizing that friendships are affected by my personality. Or is it the other way around? I'm not sure. Over the years I've done a lot of those personality tests to learn more about myself. To find out if some of my characteristics are part of my personality or if they are resulted from life.  You know.. the nature vs. nurture thing. What I've learned about myself is that I love people. And what I didn't always get was why I couldn't keep a friendship for very long. One of those reasons was because of my childhood and the issues I had with getting "deep" with someone. My onion only peeled back so far. As I've grown older and have gone through therapy and getting to know myself better, I've allowed a handful of friends (mostly women) to peel my onion even more. But it's only a few! Which intrigued me until I found out what my Meyers Briggs personality type was - ENFP. You can read more about it by clicking that link.

So it made sense to me to document my personality and relate it to how I handle friendships...

Most supplies from Inside Out Friendship kit for May.

Do you remember when the Dymo label became super popular in paper crafting? I got one right away and forgot about it. It does add a really cool look to a layout.  The A.C. tags from the kit are so much fun to experiment with so I used two but one has the journaling while the other one acts as a sub-title.

This is a 'loopy flower' shape cut with the Silhouette SD.  My tutorial for putting this pretty together can be found here.

I inked around the chipboard letters and created some dimension with the banner.

Want to learn more about your personality? There are lots of free quizzes online. Here are just a few to check out:

Personality Page (It costs $5 per quiz. It use to be free back when I took it though.)
HumanMetrics (FREE and includes Jung test.)
Similar Minds (FREE with lots of other personality type quizzes.)

Now... how would you like to win our May kit?? It's filled to the brim with some beautiful product that will have you reminiscing about your childhood friendships, current friends, how you handle friendships and maybe even those who were friends that you've lost touch with. It's a lovely way to document this topic of your life.

In order to be eligible to win a kit, leave me a comment telling me your favorite friend memory. Maybe you recall playing Barbies with the neighbor girl, or maybe you remember when your best friend baked you your favorite cookies during a hard time. Whatever it is, let's all share the best memory we've got.  I'll start.... My best memory is when my dearest of friends threw me my first surprise birthday party. It was at a time when I was struggling with my identity and just dealing with silly female crap. I also thought everyone forgot. So I went to a friends house expecting to watch a ball game on T.V. When I walked in the door, the lights were off and there was a cake with candles on it. I might have screamed and I might have cried. (With delight of course!) It was a time I felt very loved by my friends.

Make sure you leave a comment on each DT members blog by Tuesday, 5 p.m. (PDT). The more you comment, the more chances you have to win! The winner will be announced on the SFTIO blog.

After you are done leaving one here, head over to the uber-talented and sweet Nancy Doren!

Have fun!!!

Friendship is very very important and Im lucky to have the one true friend that I have that supports me no matter what. Might just have to do a page about her and I!

Absolutely lovely! I have totally been into the Dymo as well. It does add that touch of funky. My favorite friend memory is the 8th grade trip I shared with my BFF. We spent three weeks traveling in Idaho with her extended family. It was fabulous.

My favorite is probably my first which is also my fondest: I have a very vague memory of my friend and I walking around grassy knolls with our little orange and yellow plastic shopping carts. I don't know where we were going or what was in those carts, but everytime I see little girls walking together bonding in this way, it makes me smile!

One of my favorite friend memories is when I was a young mother, and had a very bad sore throat. My friend brewed up some honey and lemon tea in a musical teapot. We enjoyed the tea, while her husband mowed my grass! I got well fast after a little love!

one of my favorite memories is my friend Colleen and I took a cooking class one summer , we must have been 8 or 10.....we then tried to make ALL of the things we learned in class at one time for our families - it took us about 6 or 7 hours to make it all , our precious families were starving and we all ate together ..... Colleen and I are still friends after all these years !

this is a beautiful layout and a gorgeous kit. My favorite friend memory is suckering- grapes on my BFF's farm during the summer when we were 14. We would stop at 3pm every day because we didn't want to miss General Hospital.:)

One of my best friend memories was going on a camping trip to Georiga with my good friend Rhonda, we went on hay rides, swam, fed the ducks, and visited her grandmom, it was a blast. The ghost stories at the younger teen age out on the campgrounds scared the wits out of us!!!!

I remember the many, many , many times my friend Lisa and I played cribbage and backgammon, when we were young. Even though Lisa won almost every single time, I didn't care at all! We would just play again... She taught me what a "good winner" is really like!

Great page! I too love that looped flower design! It's a show-stopper;)

Probably some of my best memories of friends were times spent with sorority sisters in college! If it weren't for many of them, I probably would've never made it all the way through college being so far from home (12+ hours away). A few welcomed me into their homes whenever I could not be with my own family, and I'll never forget them for that!

Love the bunting under your title.

My fave memory is of meeting my best friend for the first time. It was in the communal kitchen at university, i was really nervous about meeting everyone. Then I sat at the dining table across from Rosie and she dunked a biscuit in her tea - but she dunked too long and the biscuit fell into her tea with a loud 'plop', which made us both laugh. Now I don't know what I'd do without her.

Great page, Melissa! Love the theme you used and love your design. The title work with the banner is fabulous, as is the Dymo strips. I remember having to buy one of those right away, too.......and now it gathers dust. The circles behind your photo are really eye catching, and I love your use of the tags here.
