Free to be Me

It's Sunday... and we are all still here. I guess that could be good and bad news for some, right? Ha! I've made it pretty clear about my faith on my blog and will never gloss it over. So I just have to say the Bible that I believe and read has proven itself once again. Matthew 24:36 will tell you the real day that Jesus returns. *wink*

The weeks and days leading up to "the day" were interesting and also full of lots of jokes. I have some friends who had to relate everything to "the rapture" and others who just went on their normal routine. It always intrigues me to watch people and the way they handle situations. Whether it be a crisis or hearsay. Or even lies. Everyone has their own personality and approach and when you put it all together it really is what makes this world tick.  If we were all identical... man how boring would that be?

I especially get this in my workplace. We all took a personality test during our application process and have related it to our personality and behaviors. I am a pretty strong otter. Okay. I'm 100% otter! And I also have a lot of lion in me. The combo can be quite explosive to someone who is the opposite and can create a lot of tension. But I think because of the grace and respect we have for one another at my job, we all realize that those opposite characteristics actually complement one another if used in the right manner.
All that to say... my boss is the same as me. We are the goofs! The ones who wish we were organized but just like to have some fun and put on the clown glasses every once in awhile!

I love that she is my friend too. Someone I can talk to and have a relationship with that also can compliment the work place. Because besides church and home, this is where I spend most of my time!

As a subscriber bonus this month with the SFTIO May kit, new subscribers will receive these fun chalkboard journal spots from Pink Paislee/HO3. They were intimidating at first but after some failed and successful experimentation, I like the way these two turned out on my layout. For a fun tutorial, check out the Exclusive Content section of the SFTIO message board.

We also got a sheet of Glubers! The new phenomenon of glue dots from Cosmo Cricket. Oooooh they are FUN! And STICKY! I took some white crepe paper, inked it up with the Distress Stain (Spun Sugar) that comes with the kit, spritzed it with some Smooch Spritz, then rolled it up on the Gluber.

And what layout would be complete without a handmade flower? These babies were cut with the Silhouette (of course) and topped off with some super cute buttons from Crate Paper.

All materials used on layout are from the May Friendship kit from SFTIO.  Non kit stuff includes:
- Pen (Zig and Uniball)
- Silhouette SD (Shape: 3d_flowers_parisian)
- Border Punch (Martha Stewart)
- Cuttlebug (Embossing)
- Stamp ink (SEI) used to ink edges of flowers
- Smooch Spritz (Clearsnap)

Hope you find some time to create this weekend! If you are looking for some inspiration or mojo, come check out the challenges we have going on. While there is always a chance to win some yummy goodies, I think the most important factor is that you know the challenge is going to give you some good, meaningful layouts as an end result. Come join us!

Great layout, Melissa! Totally love that photo! Love, love the chalkboard journaling spots and your handmade flowers, too. And how cool is that crepe paper/Gluber technique! Never heard of that stuff before, but now I'm completely intrigued. :)
