Five Years

Today is my five year anniversary at work. Over the past years I've transitioned from being a lead teacher to a program coordinator. Each position has it's pros and cons. Some outweighing the other. I love my job. It's a blessing to even have a job right now and while the early morning alarm hurts, I remind myself that I get a paycheck and that is enough.

This is, however, the longest I've ever worked at one place. I get bored very easily. I'm quite impressed that I've lasted as long as I have. That's not to say that I've had moments of burn out. Days, weeks and even months where I just wanted to quit. Seasons of wanting a change. I still experience those and am going through that right now. So instead of doing what I've done before, which is quit and find something else, I'm challenging myself to wake up with new eyes. I'm taking advantage of my optimistic self and going in to work with a positive spin. It's not easy. There are all sorts of things that try to throw me off my plan but I'm determined! I feel like such a grown up holding a job for this long! :)

I think I deserve a congrats card!

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper, Sticker: Pink Paislee, Twine: Jillibean Soup, Acrylic Flowers: Basically Bare, Alcohol Ink: Ranger Industries, Stamp: Inkadinkado, Embossing Powder: Stampin' Up!, Stamp Ink: Versamark, Other: button

This card features a brand new product! The acrylic flowers are from a new company called Basically Bare. I recently got a big box of goodies from them and let me tell ya... there are some faaaaab things in that shop! The acrylic is so fun to work with. To make the flowers I dropped some alcohol ink (Citrus) and then used my heat gun on it. It melts the acrylic and makes it curl. Awesome! Then I layered them. That was only tricky part - trying to figure out a good way to adhere the two flowers. I ended up using my trusty Zip Dry. Held it together for little bit and ta-da! Stuck together. I tried several of my adhesives too and even a glue dot.

Can't wait to use all the other goodies in that box of amazingness!

Thanks to all who commented on my last post. Isn't it great when we can accept the way we are and just be able to enjoy it? Especially when it comes to our creativity and it was great to get that all off my chest!

Hope your Monday is off to a good start!

hugs,
Melissa
