SFTIO: Growth

It's a new month! Wow.

Okay so I know time flies and it goes by even quicker when you are older but I feel like July was a blur. I ran out of time! Of course I was on vacation for part of it but I still look back and wonder what the heck just happened.  Oh well! Got to move on and it's a new month which means a new kit at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. I love the kit this month. I loved scrapbooking and journaling about Growth.

As a DT, we get the kit and the emotion a month in advance to work on. When I find out what the emotion/topic is I go direction to dictionary.com, thesaurus.com and quotes.com and begin researching. I read through the definitions and synonyms. Then I dig through the antonyms and see if there are any quotes that speak to me. It's a growing experience in and of itself as I explore these different meanings and how they apply to me personally. I always ask myself, "what, in my soul, can relate to these words?" And I always find something.

Before I even begin the layout or try to find the photo, I journal for a bit. And then I pull from my journaling what my five pages will be. It's not as easy as it sounds. Sometimes I spend a couple of weeks doing this until the pages flow. Other times, I know exactly what I'm going to record before the kit comes!

For Growth, it was a mixture of the two. I had one layout ready in my head and the other four took some time. But I am loving them and the journey they took me on! One of the many reasons why I love being part of the SFTIO community!

This was the first layout I made with the kit. I have to admit that I had a hard time after I got started because I'm not a mister. But I wanted to do it anyway and break out of my little box aka comfort zone. I still have mixed feelings but I'm glad I did it anyway! This page has a ton of texture on it too and I will be sharing more about that on the SFTIO forum as part of my Exclusive Content. Check out those flocked rub-ons! Those were so much fun!

I drenched the chipboard dragon fly in the Color Wash by Adirondack. There's a big ole bottle of that kit in this months kit. The bling is my own. That's also something I love about these kits. You've got a ton of product to work with and there's even room to throw in a bit of your own touch.

And here's a close up of my journaling:

This layout was kind of the "kick off" layout for the rest of my layouts.  And totally unrelated, but I got a new pen and I'm loving my handwriting!

So tell me... How does your inner garden grow?
