More learning about me

and my style.

Over the past couple of years as I've challenged myself more in my creating I've learned something new about my approach and style in scrapbooking. As I looked back through my gallery and tried to determine that "thing" I have... trying to see if there was something that when people look at a layout they say "oh yes... that is a Melissa layout" I found out that, when I am inspired, I'm a horizontal scrapper. Those horizontal designs usually end up being my favorites and the also the one's that seem to receive the most positive feedback.

That's kind of nice to know. While I like to branch out and try new techniques and designs, I think that this is something I'm going to be more aware of when I create my layouts.

For November, the kit at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out is probably the most inspiring kit I've worked with yet. It's almost a favorite but there was just something about our theme and the combination of elements that has left me wanting to create more! I love that. :)

Over the past few months I have to say that this layout is my favorite of all time...

You can see the horizontal feel to it and the dark matting around the edge helps to anchor the design. Most of all I can tell that with the combination of supplies (hello yummy Lily Bee!!!), mixing my title and using some goofy photos of myself, I was definitely feeling the mojo. I also used my Silhouette SD to create the rosettes. I always come back to this layout for inspiration because, while there might little things to nitpick about it, it's one that I sat back and said YES.

What have you learned about your style? Do you have a "thing"? Does it matter to you or do you just create and let it all flow?

I just want to say I love your blog. I think my style is more vintage then anything else. I am tring to do things a little different sometimes but always seem to come back to the same style. Oh well. I guess I just have to try a little harder. Thanks for sharing.

That is a gorgeous page! I too am horizontal. My boys are vertical, though, LOL!

I enjoy your blog and love seeing what you create. I don't always comment but I almost never miss a post. I've never thought about "the thing" that makes my layouts me. Now you've got me curious. I might have to check out my layouts and see if I can figure it out. Love this Horizontal layout! :)
