Dad's Day from Jen Martakis

Hi everyone!

It would figure that the moment I feel like I could get some blog posts scheduled, I get a yucky head cold. Pretty sure it's allergy induced. I'll spare you the details. Anyway, what better way to spend my day in bed than to get some blog posts done. I plan to do some spell checking and such when I'm done but my apologies for any confusing sentences. Sinus medicine can make your head do funny things sometimes!

Okay... enough talk about that. I am loving one of the latest releases from Jen Martakis called Dad's Day.

How fun is THAT kit? As a hybrid paper crafter, I love how easy it is to print and cut out the designs in Jen's kit. Also, those fun journal cards make the best matte or place for a sentiment on cards. I've also been one who has been avoiding the mustache craze but I gave in. But only a little bit.

Here are a couple of cards I came up with:

For this card, I went "mustache" and super simple. In fact, it's so simple I feel guilty. But the background patterned paper sums up what I would want to say. And I remember my dad growing a mustache every once in awhile.

I print my papers at 5x7 size OR create a collage in Picasa. This is a great way to do hybrid because you can shrink the patterns to work with cards. This one I had printed out the designs at a 5x7 size and then trimmed to make the banners. Instead of my usual go-to of bling, I opted for eyelets. Gives some fun texture while keeping the "manly" feel.

Love the soft, masculine colors of this kit! Came in very handy because I didn't have a card made for dad yet. :)

Jen also has a GORGEOUS kit available at Gotta Pixel! Seriously... it's gorgeous. I'm planning to make some pretties with it this weekend.
