SFTIO Design Team Blog Hop

Hi everyone!

Long time no see on this here blog. What better way to kick start myself back into a regular schedule than with a wonderful design team blog hop, featuring layouts by the amazing dt at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. We've got some new team members and I'm thrilled to have you meet these ladies and visit their blogs.

If you are just starting the hop here, you are in the right place. Then, just follow the links at the bottom of each of our posts to visit everyone's blog.

Today I'm sharing one of my layouts using the July Communication kit. This kit is filled with so much symbolism in regards to communication! I especially love all the phone elements. After making a cross country move, I knew how important it was for me to maintain some communication between my friends. While I know that new relationships will definitely be formed here, I also realize that the friendships I have already established are deeply rooted! Distance will definitely present it's own unique challenges but for my own heart health and sanity.... I need to know those people, who I have that heart investment in, will always be there.

I could spend a lot of time talking about my friend and how amazing she is. But this time I'm focusing on me. How does she affect me and why is it so important I not lose the communication we have. And it's for the very reason I stated above - so much has been invested and it is good for my heart, mind and soul that this friendship be maintained. It will definitely be different but I'm glad we don't have to let go!

Symbolism just oozes from this kit! How perfect to have little paper airplanes. I picture hand written letters to my bestie and then flying a paper airplane all the way from Chicago to Washington State.

And what kind of blog hop would we have if there wasn't a prize???

Thanks so much for the hop!!! It is a first time visit for me, and I am so glad I "stumbled" upon this site! Cant wait to check it out more. On to my answer about the best way I like to communicate...I would have to say cell phone and texting. Which ironically enough my battery just died in my cell phone yesterday, so communication is not so good right now...LOL, off to get a new one tomorrow. This is my first stop along the hop and I am having fun already...thanks again!

Love this layout! and Nikki Sivils collections! Communication? I'm embarrassed to admit emails and texts. That's pretty much it, even with my adult kids. Seldom a phone call (I hate talking on the phone!), but texts can fly all day long.

Thanks for sharing your work.

I'm going to share a communication pet peeve - its when my 19 year old sends a text from somewhere else in the house rather than coming to ask me something in person - not all communication is created equal.

I haven't scrapped in a while, but when I got this kit, I loved the colors... I found some pictures of my daughter ice skating, and thought that is a form of communication too. So off I scrapped it. Art, no matter if it is physical (like skating, or gymnastics, or soccer!)or traditional (paintings or sculptures etc.) are just as much a type of communication as the spoken word!

I loved your thoughts on the paper airplanes!

I'm embarrased to say most of my communication is texting. Things have changed so much in the last 15 years. I remember being stuck to the wall talking on the phone as a kid. Thanks for sharing and a chance to win.

I'm the first one to take on the challenge of how many words I can get out of communication? Wow! But there's no time limit! I'm stopping at 52 so I can finish the hop. I got communion - not really hard, but it does represent real communication to me. I'm also excited about escaping!

That is a beautiful layout. I'm glad this is the first stop. I'm not much of a communicator when it comes to people, so I would rather text or email than speak to someone.

Communication? Hmm... I'm old school on this one :) I can do without the texting for sure. I rarely text. Rather talk and hear a voice, lol!

Your page is so fun, Melissa! I love the camera elements and the polaroid frame accenting for the photo!

Glad I stumbled upon the hop... I was looking for something to occupy my evening!

So hope you are having fun exploring and getting to be better acquainted with your new home in Chicago!

I mainly communicate with people via email. It's fast. It's easy. I don't really like talking on the phone. I get antsy. Email means I can multi-task.

My all time favorite way to communicate is via snail mail! I love sending cards! Mostly store bought, but sometimes I run across other handmade cards to sale either in a store or via ETSY! I have kept all of my received cards over the years in a HUGE wicker basket so that when I am feeling down, curious, or would like to remember a late loved one; I take the basket out and reread the old cards and letters and they always give my heart a HUGE lift! I would hope that my friends do the same so that when I pass they will still have my thoughts and communication to comfort them. One more share is that my three year old granddaughter, Lexi, or Peanut as I call her has EXCEPTIONAL communication skills and makes me a very proud Gma! Thanks for the chance to win some blog candy!
