I can officially bust out all my Christmas decor and play (outloud) the Christmas music!
Side note: I have been secretly listening to Christmas music since November on my ipod. I've been in the Christmas spirit since October, I think!
This year, I am participating in a daily journaling event for the month of December. I'm really excited to do this. It's been a long time coming.
I can't really explain why I haven't done it before. It doesn't matter because I'm doing it now!
Today I'm sharing with you my album and base pages. I had so much fun creating this! The majority of the product used is Tis The Season by Echo Park Paper. Check it out here. I gotta say, Echo Park knows how to do their collection kits right! Aside from a few wooden and fiber embellishments, everything is from this collection.
Here is the cover:
And a couple of side shots so you can see the dimension:
The pretty, tulle trim is from Websters Pages. The green alpha I used is OLD stuff from Basic Grey. I have had that alpha in my stash for... ever... And that snowflake? How cute is that! It is actually two snowflakes that I layered. They are all transparent and sparkly. Me and My Big Ideas is the manufacturer. (I just tried to do a google search for you to find them but, they are nowhere. I bought my package at Archivers.)
For my daily album, I will be following the prompts by Holiday Storytellers from Simple Scrapper. There are many awesome ladies contributing to the event with daily prompts. I'm really looking forward to using them as spring boards and even going off on my own, based on the days events.
Here is my first page using the prompt - "What makes you feel the holiday season has arrived?" The prompt included a photo of a Starbucks red cup.
Who drinks Starbucks everyday? Who reached gold status in record time? Who has two thumbs?
That is exactly when I feel all festive.. when those red cups appear! So, I thought how fitting for my first page. The first item of business to begin this month long quest of journaling my daily life.
I plan to share my daily pages with you as the month progresses. I'm not going to promise a day but I will definitely be sharing.
Here are a few more sneak photos and I'll explain how I put my book together along the way:
The book size is 6" x 8". I used a thin chipboard medium for the front and back; covered both sides with patterned paper and embellished. Each individual page is, simply, white cardstock with various pattern papers, stickers and embellishments added to them.
For fun, I added a few pieces of acetate that I embellished. I love the look of mixed media in a mini-album.
The Tis the Season collection by Echo Park came with a paper that had all the numbers for December on it. So I cut them up and put them on each page. I love the variety and that I didn't have to pre-plan the numbers. No brain work here folks!
The album is thick. Just the way I like it! As I add photos and, perhaps, memorabilia, I'm sure it will become a little bit more full. I'm not too worried about it.
It will be fun to display this album each year and read through the pages.
Are you doing a December/Christmas daily journal? I'd love to check out yours too. Leave me a link of your blog that you'll be sharing on so we can both get ideas!
Here's to a GREAT December!
