I haven't posted a lot of Christmas on my blog this year. The hustle and bustle has taken over. I've created but just haven't had time to photograph every single thing I've made.
But, I did manage to make a couple of cards using some of my stash. They are super simple and show how using gelatos on a white canvas really can help ground and fill a simple design.
I mixed gelatos and some warm water to create a lovely little paint. Using my finger, I just smeared it all over the center of my card. It was kind of gratifying to get messy with some paint. Ha! After smearing, I sprinkled some splatters around.
The layering simply consists of some vellum snowflakes (MAMBI) and a tag (Sleigh Ride collection by Crate Paper). Seriously. After the layering, I thought it could use a little bit more texture and interest so I added some tiny pearls and enamel stars. The twine adds a nice color and texture too. I like how it helps ground the design.
For this one, I added some wood veneer snowflakes (Studio Calico), sprinkled some sequins and pearls and used a sticker from the Sleigh Ride collection. Simple. Super simple.
Seriously. The hardest part about making these cards was having to wash my hands after paint smearing. And I love how the finished look makes it seem I took hours and hours.
But it has nothing to do with the design. It has everything to do with getting distracted by Facebook, Netflix... among other things. Haha!
Unto us a child is born... and He shall be called... wonderful counselor... Mighty Savior...
Love this time of year!
