Well, the lovely three day weekend is over and, I, along with the rest of the U.S. are back to work today. It's always rough going back after an extra day off. At the same time, I'm thankful I have a job.
Anyhoo... the extra day off afforded some play time in my crafty space.
This card was such a pain. Seriously. I had a vision and it began okay enough but then... ugh... but, we powered through and I believe I do like the final product.
For the base, I used a cut file from the Just Nick shop and used my sketch pens. So fun!
I wanted it to be a bit off center so, used my slice tool to wack off the sides and make it fit the way I wanted on the card. I wish I had one of those software programs where I can record my desktop screen but, I don't. So, I'll use words to describe a trick I use to make these shapes work. Before I begin adding the cut file in my Silhouette Studio, I create a rectangle shape that measures the same size as the front of my card - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". That way, I can scale the shapes to the exact size I want. I can also position them on the card where I want, similar to layers in Photoshop. This really helps when it comes time to execute the design in real life.
The challenges I had with this card were simply the embellishing part. The design I had in my head just didn't work. So I did lots of "testing" and pulling off and placing and moving and... you get the idea.
I do like it. I really do! It's different for me and I think that's also why I struggled. But, it's just another opportunity to grow creatively, I guess. :)
Thanks for swinging by!
