I've got a fun page to share with you today that is using a cut file from Just Nick and the beautiful October Sapphire Kit from Clique Kits. My focus, on the design team at CK, is making cards but, I'm managing to sneak in a layout every once in awhile too. :)
I've been eyeballing this Basket Weave cut file from Just Nick, for the past couple of weeks, and was excited to finally put it to work on a project. And I'm really loving how this page turned out!
I just love a good background cut file. Coupled with the gorgeous Indigo Hills papers from Pinkfresh, that are featured in the Sapphire kit, it really works well! I layered the cut white cardstock on top of another white piece of cardstock. Before I attached the two pieces, I cut out several pieces of the patterned paper and adhered them down.
That was a little tricky due to the thin strips of cardstock that create the basket weave look. But a thin line of glue worked well and I also used a little scotch tape. ;)
Mingled in with the Pinkfresh papers are a few exclusive prints from Clique Kits.
I found it important to be purposeful with the colors and such. I'm such a stickler for good balance and my visual triangle. I will venture out on new techniques, etc., but I stay true to the foundation of my design. The page could have easily gotten too busy but, I think it ended up looking great! And my photo pops out and remains the focus.
Speaking of the photo, I just love that photo of my mom and me. It was taken on Mother's Day this past year. We rarely take a good photo of the BOTH of us!
Thanks for swinging by!
