Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas friends!

As a Christian, this holiday is such a joyful one, for me, as I celebrate the birth of Jesus. He is my hope, light and Savior and I just love spending time with my family and my church family as we all sing carols and celebrate together. Such a special time!

I also love making Christmas cards and wanted to share with you a card I made using product from the Clique Cards 2016: Holiday Edition kit. I used a stamp from the Melimelo stamp set that comes with the kit and I used a cut file from the Just Nick Studio shop.

Here is a little step by step of what I did. Let's just say I broke out a supply item that I haven't used in forever - embossing powder!

Supplies: Stamps: MeliMelo, Ink: Versamark, Embossing Powder: American Crafts
Items from the Clique Cards Kit: Stamps and cardstock

To begin, I used a ruler to line up the stamp that says 'merry'. The plan is to stamp all down the right side of the card base with the word.

The watermark ink stamps on clear, which makes it nice for embossing because you can use any color. I chose white for a couple of reasons - 1) Because it looks great on the red cardstock and 2) because it's the only color I have. ;)

I covered it up with the powder, dusted it off and took the heat gun to it. Man, it felt like going back in time. Remember when embossing was the "trend"??? I wanted to emboss all the things!

The next step was to make the cut file 'merry' stand out! I decided to keep taking it back to the old school and whip out some Tattered Angels mist I've had in my stash forever

Wait, what??? Tattered Angels glimmer mist and embossing? What is this, 2010??? (I hope you know I'm kidding.)

Finally, I adhered the cut file 'merry' to the front of the card. It was missing still missing something so, I dug into my kit and used a couple of embellishments. I placed them, strategically, in the top right to help balance the whole design.

Here is the finished card:

Making this card made me realize a few things... I really miss and love using embossing powder. I still love spritzing all the things with my glimmer mist. And I can't believe how many cards I've made with this kit! Holy moley!

Yes, the Christmas season is past but, you can still grab this kit and have it on hand to do your cards for next year! Or maybe some belated cards OR even to help document in your December Daily or whatever memory keeping you do for Christmas.
